About Me
Soy bilingüe hablando inglés y español, y puedo ofrecer servicios de consejería en el idioma que usted prefiere.
I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT). I enjoy working with children, families, and adults. In my position as a Therapist, I help clients make positive changes in their lives by building a trusting relationship with them. We work together on building rapport, so that they feel safe and confident in working through issues that are impacting their lives. Trust and collaboration are the foundation of a successful therapeutic relationship.I have chosen to focus my work on individuals, children and families. I have a strong and deep desire to help and support all of my clients. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction seeing all of my clients progress from being anxious, withdrawn, or oppositional to becoming more confident, content and satisfied with themselves and their environment.
When I work with children, I recognize that parents are the most important people in their lives. This is why I believe strongly in working with the parents as well. I work collaboratively with parents to help them feel more confident and satisfied in their relationships with their children, and with each other to reinforce healthy communication, boundaries, and respect. I work towards minimizing the power struggles that happen within the family system, so that each member of the family can be heard and respected.
I believe some of my strongest qualities include being emotionally available to all of my client's needs, and being positive and patient. When I work with children, I also stress playfulness. With parents I have an open approach - I believe that communications from all members of the family are important. These qualities help my clients feel safe and secure, and allows us to build trust and rapport, which are the building blocks to successful therapy. My office is equipped with toys that have been specifically chosen to allow children to safely express their feelings.
I have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a Associates degree in Early Child Development. After receiving my Marriage Family Therapy license, I went on to complete a two year training program at UC San Diego Extension to become a Registered Play Therapist. I have also completed training in Sand Tray Therapy.
